NRM South facilitates support to volunteer groups and individuals in Tasmania’s southern region.
Our Regional Landcare Facilitator (Community) provides key support to community groups including coordinating our community grants programs. We link to other organisations that provide assistance, and we work with councils and the NRM Facilitation Network who provide support within regional communities. We are also a main contributor to the Volunteer Training Consortium formed to build capacity within groups.
The Volunteer Training Consortium is a collaboration between land managers and care organisations including; Landcare Tasmania, Southern Coastcare Association of Tasmania, Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Services, Crown Land Services and various local councils. Past training has included First Aid, Weed identification and control, brushcutter use and seed propagation. Keep an eye on our events calendar for more training opportunities.
NRM South also delivers grants to groups, provides links to information and holds events and training to help groups and individuals increase their knowledge and capacity.
Caring for our Environment Photo Competition – now open!
NRM South and City of Hobart Bushcare are once again inviting our community of nature-loving photographers to capture an image that celebrates the different ways that we all care for our environment; whether you are a volunteer who regularly devotes “the first Sunday of every month” to your local working bee, or whether you take it upon yourself to pick up rubbish from your school grounds or whenever you visit the beach with your family – it all makes a huge difference in helping to protect and enhance our natural environment for the benefit of all.
