The Natural Resource Management Strategy for Southern Tasmania 2010-2015

The Natural Resource Management Strategy for Southern Tasmania 2010–2015 has been developed to provide a strategic, integrated framework for natural resource management in the Southern Region of Tasmania. It has been developed by NRM South in accordance with the Tasmanian Natural Resource Management Act 2002.

The strategy has been developed with extensive community consultation and is based on best current knowledge, as well as on previous and existing work. It is a whole-of-region and multi-stakeholder strategy intended to provide a focus for natural resource management in the Southern Region of Tasmania and to improve integration and coordination of planning and activities, particularly between sectors and across geographical boundaries.

The strategy is intended to complement a range of existing and forthcoming strategies and plans relevant to natural resource management in Southern Tasmania, including property-based plans, catchment management plans, regional land use and settlement plans and strategies that are statewide in scope. The NRM South response to the Strategy is provided as an appendix to the document.
