NRM South is running a series of ‘Healthy Livestock’ workshops in the Huon and Tasman region between May and June 2019.
$35 per ticket (maximum of two individuals per property)
Workshop themes and dates:
Sheep workshop (Huonville, Huon Valley) – Saturday May 25 (9 – 4 pm)
Pigs workshop (Lymington, Huon Valley) – Saturday June 1 (9 – 4 pm)
Sheep workshop (Saltwater River, Tasman) – Sunday June 2 (9 – 4 pm)
The workshops are ideal if you’re new to farming or would like a refresher and want to:
- Learn more about basic livestock health and husbandry
- Get tips on how to recognise and manage livestock diseases and illnesses
- Learn about low-stress stock handling
- Learn how to carry out basic procedures including worming, vaccination, footcare and body condition assessments*
*The workshops will be hands on with an opportunity to try livestock handling, foot trimming (in sheep only), drenching and vaccination under supervision.
A Q&A with local experts will also help answer your questions on a range of subjects relating to livestock health and husbandry.
